The holidays are quickly approaching and as we are finishing up the remaining fall galleries (PS thank you to ALL of our amazing families) it is hard not to start feeling sad as we know the hibernation of outdoor shoots is also approaching.
Pennsylvania weather...and winter...and the "S" word. (shh.. snow). Yes, it is all coming. And with somewhat of an understanding, we know this isn't the "ideal" time to have pictures taken. However, we also know that Santa probably can't fit a photography studio into his sack for us, as much as we want him to, so we are here to remind you that there are indeed benefits to shooting in EVERY season! Yes, even winter.
Honestly, the one we can relate to the most...Do you have a child that plays a spring and fall sport, Winter is often that break where you won't have to juggle schedules! Who doesn't love the sound of that?!!
While trees are bare and grasses aren't green, this isn't a negative thing when it comes to photography. Openness in locations means less background distraction and that is definitely a plus! This also means you can go ahead and add in those colors (and patterns) to your attire that you may steer away from in other seasons!
Even if it's cold, snow is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL time to capture memories! Whether it is after or during a snow fall, snow just adds a special type of magic/glow to your images. Yes, we have done snow shoots, and YES, we'd love to do more! Pretty please!
But it's cold you say...yes, that part isn't the most fun but layering for winter shoots is easy and also super stylish. Jackets, scarves, boots, hats, gloves, blankets...they can all be incorporated and personally if you're worried your kids won't want to get close for their pictures, trust us, no one is going to complain when they get to snuggle up next to mom, dad, brothers or sisters to stay a little extra warm!
Also, please don't worry, breaks are ALWAYS allowed and welcome during our shoots. We won't let you freeze or be uncomfortable and we will move at whatever pace you want!
We want you to have fun but we also encourage you to give each Pennsylvania season a try... (because we all know there are more than just the four!) Don't shy away from the layers, the colors, the snow, the naked trees, the wide open fields! You will NOT be disappointed!
