It is no surprise that Pennsylvania is a state known for it's unpredictable, all-over-the-place, often comical (or not so comical) weather pattern. The division of seasons don't really exist and we often have to plan for winter temperatures in the morning and summer temperatures by the afternoon. It's frustrating at times, but it also creates for some great memes and keeps us guessing on what to expect each day, and each week...and sometimes even by the hour.
That being said, when it comes to photoshoots, 95% primarily being outside, we often get to play both photographer AND weatherperson. Luckily for us, we do have a weather-enthusiast on board and he has, on more than one occasion, saved a shoot just by a time and/or location switch by watching the maps.
For Sarah and Dominick, however, we got a lesson on how "moody" the weather still can be and the day of their engagement shoot we had what they called an "early, overachieving" storm. Although we had stalked the radar all morning, rain was determined to be a part of their day.
While we totally understood if they wanted to reschedule, we all ended up deciding to give it a go, and see what would come of it, and in the end we had truly one of the most memorable shoots.
We did decide however, after realizing the difficulty in an outfit change and our quickly depleting options for any sort of covering once the rain really started to come down, that a Part II for this couple was a must....and to say we were thrilled with the outcome of both parts, would be an understatement.
Part 2 didn't bring on rain, but it did bring on fog and "wow," what an intriguing thing to watch happen right before our eyes, and the effect it created for their images was truly spectacular. While this couple will always be remembered for their weather-exciting shoots, we know they will also be the couple who can "weather any storm"... literally!!
Pennsylvania weather, thanks for keeping us on our toes! (But if anyone ever has a desire to take us somewhere tropical, we are completely ok with that too! Ha Ha)
